Portuguese marble has been essentially used as cladding in Portugal, where we see numerous applications of marble on the exterior of houses, building and other structures. Here, it has been used for decades as exterior wall coverings of buildings, diverse masonry and stonework to cover or decorate the exterior part of building.

With more modern architecture, Portuguese marble has been used to some extent in ventilated cladding of building. These can be found mostly in larger cities in Portugal.

As for export, Portuguese marble cladding has been shy and with reduced market share, but with growing interest, in particular for new and modern building, which require new materials and approaches to cladding.

Despite not being a major finished product, Portuguese marble cladding has been used to some extent in the Portuguese market, as masonry, stonework of all sorts and general straight cut cladding of some buildings.

There is also some demand from North America, Europe and some Asian countries. Marble cladding is less common but is becoming more trendy, in particular for specific surface finishes, but also using thinner translucent panels. We see a trend in new projects of museums and public buildings using Portuguese marble with these new techniques, which may be something to consider in future projects and supplies.
