Having focussed mostly on the supply of blocks, tiles or finished products like stonework, masonry or paving stone, Portuguese marble suppliers have generally been supplying blocks for other companies, which in turn would process and sell these as slabs. This has been the process, until very recently, when Portuguese companies started exploring the marble slabs market themselves, investing in technology and know-how.

Portuguese marble slabs are today exported all over the world. With the recent expansion into the marble slabs market, Portuguese companies have opened numerous opportunities in markets worldwide.

Portuguese marble slabs are today exported to US and Canada, Middle East, UK and North Europe, as well as Russia and Asian countries. There is also considerable demand for Portuguese marble slabs for lower grades from North African countries.

In addition to these countries, there is a less representative but growing interest from markets in South America and Africa.
